NONGROWNUPS - streetwear with humour and attitude
The new, Danish brand NONGROWNUPS now debuts on CPH Vision in Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. Here they present their first fun, original and colourful collection of streetwear and underwear and allow us to meet "the four-eyed monkey" and the other strange animals in NONGROWNUPS unmistakable signature prints. It might just be the beginning of a beautiful friendship...
NONGROWNUPS is colour, fantasy animals, cool, quirky, urban style and possibly a future cult for women, who hasn't forgotten the inner child and who still feel, that clothes should have humour and attitude.
That is exactly what the two women behind NONGROWNUPS feel. They started the brand in late 2007 over coffee and the question: "Why aren't women's clothes as fun as kids clothes?" And when the two women in question are designer Mette Brodersen and business economist Lene Ærbo - the answer is that you create it yourself.
As the name implies, the NONGROWNUPS philosophy is that age is a state of mind - and with the "I want a life less ordinary" NONGROWNUPS have created a collection in which humour, creativity and attitude meets quality materials and perfect fit.
Original designs, strong colour and unmistakable signature prints
NONGROWNUPS streetwear and underwear is known by original designs, strong colours and unmistakable signature prints, which sort of gives you a feeing of being on a surreal safari where you see the "four-eyed monkey" and the lion with the headphones...
NONGROWNUPS first collection is "Fall 2008" and consists of two sets of tops and boxers, a short-sleaved t-shirt, a long-sleeved t-shirt, a t-shirt dress and leggings.
Awarded from the very beginning
NONGROWNUPS have had a flying start and even before the collection was completed on paper they were awarded the Danish prize "The Golden Container 2007" and were given the opportunity to speed up the production of the collection. "The Golden Container" is given each year by the company Sourcing House as an award for promising young designers.
